Happy Thanksgiving from everyone @ American Profit Recovery!

An interesting article, if not disturbing, from the Boston Business Journal.  It comes as no surprise that more and more individuals and businesses are in economic troubles; it is still disturbing that so many of them turn to bankruptcy for the solution.  Just like welfare, subsidies, and even “bail outs”, I believe bankruptcy is a needed safety net for those that truly run into unforeseen troubles.  The significant word here is “unforeseen”.  Too many of the bankruptcies that I have seen through the years in the collection industry come from just plain poor planning or worse yet, no planning at all.  Planning doesn’t mean “Where are we going to eat out this weekend”, but instead true one, three and five year plans, budgets and planning for the “what ifs”.  If more people took the time to truly look at the future instead of the here and now, it is my belief that you wouldn’t be reading about the numbers below.

The most common type of personal bankruptcy filing is up 28 percent so far this year compared to a year ago in eastern Massachusetts as a growing number of households are unable to juggle their bills amid the severe economic downturn. Continue reading »

Many of you have luckily had an opportunity to work with Loni Fox.  Loni joined American Profit Recovery in an administrative role in August 2005.  She was (arguably) APR’s 4th employee.  During her time at APR, Loni has held various roles from order processing to payment posting to client training and handling APRs accounts receivables.

After giving birth to her first son this summer, Brody, Loni rejoined APR in her newest endeavor – Customer Service Rep.  Loni joins Ryan Melnechuk and Ginny Dwyer to add our third Customer Service Rep for the first time.  Loni brings a wealth of knowledge in debt collection to this role as well as a ton of excitement! 

Loni attended Saginaw Valley State University before graduating from Wayne State University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and a study in Graphic Design.  She resides in and works out of Farmington Hills, MI. Any time you have a question and need a friendly voice to get you an answer, do not hesitate to ask for Loni!  She is always going above and beyond to help and we are very happy to have her on our team. 

Sallie Mae, Greenspan, Wall Street, deficits, consumer confidence, recession, “Dems at fault – no GOP at fault,” credit freezes, downsizing, unemployment rates, credit scores, bad loans, stimulus packages …

Man, enough is enough. What ever happened to good old fashion personal responsibility? With the overwhelming amount of gloom and doom, it is no wonder we all aren’t bunkered down in our homes fearful to even venture out. Fear is feeding this monster.
