Good Corporate Citizenship at its Best

While in MI I saw good corporate citizenship at its best when Collection Supervisor Mike Hiller and his wife Jen invited all of the MI team (and those of us in visiting for training) to their newly completed home for a house warming party and BBQ. What a great day! The sun was shining, horse shoe courts and an inflatable castle for the kids adorned the yard and there was more food than one could imagine. What a great team-building event.
What capped the day for me though was when Mike’s mom explained the “money tree” she had set up in the backyard. We were to use clothes pins to attach money to the tree instead of gifts to help Mike and Jen purchase items for their new home. What came next was good people at their best … Mike said instead of keeping the money for their house, he and Jen had decided to donate all money collected to the American Cancer Society for the Making Strides Walk.
Thanks to a friendly bet between a sales rep and one of our partners and very generous friends and family, the tree collected over $300 that Mike and Jen turned around and gave to the ACS. Selfless. Charitable. Good corporate citizenship at its best.
