Collection Agencies See Improved Trends

Consumers will be happy to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel due to signs indicating the economy is slowly recovering. The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (ACA International) recently reported that businesses of all sizes, in all industries and across all regions have demonstrated improvement in payment behavior. At first glance, it may appear that the economy is still struggling however Experian’s latest Business Benchmark Report indicates slight improvements over the past six months. In January, the national average number of days that businesses paid beyond the terms of their contracted amounts was down by two percent while the percentage of dollars delinquent remained stable over the review period. Although this does not seem like much, it is a positive change for the economy and encouraging news for consumers. Continue reading »

Collection Agency Celebrates March Madness

It is springtime which means warmer temperatures, flowers blooming and March Madness!! American Profit Recovery employees are celebrating a month of college basketball in their typical fashion…a fundraiser that is enjoyable for employees but which also generates money for a good cause. During the month of March, APR employees may enter the tournament pool through a $5 donation to the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (ACA International) Education Foundation. After entering, employees can win up to 15 vouchers for casual dress days. To promote participation and generate more fundraising dollars, APR will match all monies raised by employees. Don’t Wait for Robin Hood

‘Robin Hood’ has been in the news again lately and now he has a ‘Maid Marian’, to help him deliver good news regarding his casino winnings to those in need. The modern day do-gooder officially calls himself RobinHood702 and his side-kick is known as “Lady Greice”. He first made news in 2008 when he helped a family nearly $50,000 in debt by flying them to Vegas to pamper them all weekend while he gambled at the blackjack table and attempted to win the money they owed. He guaranteed to cover half of their bills if he lost. Since that time, he has helped others in need and has received an enormous response to use his gambling skills to help other families get out of debt.

It is wonderful that people like ‘Robin Hood’ exist in our world and are willing to help people to get back on their feet. However, until ‘Lady Griece’ shows up on your doorstep with some good news, there are a few things you can do to start managing your debt and get your finances in order. The easiest place to begin is by taking responsibility for your personal debt. Although paying your bills, mortgage, and credit card debts is not fun at the end of each month and probably will not make you a millionaire, it will steer you clear of financial problems in the future. Collection Agency Takes a Different Kind of Pledge

This company did something last week that I’m so proud of. I’m proud of a lot of things this collection agency has done and continues to do but to get an entire company behind a movement to give some very worthy people some respect in very short notice was just a great thing to see.

Last week the entire staff of American Profit Recovery took the pledge to end the use of the R-Word or what too many people use at will, the word Retard. The effort spearheaded by Special Olympics nationwide is an effort to rid the word too commonly used in a derogatory way from our everyday language. We saw the news coverage of this initiative and the high school students who took part in this and thought it would be a great idea for our company to take part.

We’re not sure of how many companies are doing this but we are challenging the corporate word and the collection industry to take part in this and help rid an overused and hurtful word from our everyday thoughts. Continue reading »
